Enjoy the freshest tempura in Kyoto Gion only at the Yasaka Endo, which is a 80 years old traditional restaurant. With Kyoto’s rare tea ceremony arbor styles, you can enjoy the atmosphere of Kyoto while enjoying Kyoto vegetables.

Within the restaurant there are counters and tatami style seating. There are foreign language menus for tourist, and many tourists enjoy sitting at the counter where they can watch as the vegetables are fried.
The “aoi” course comprises 13 tempura dishes. First is the pumped bean curd skin. The bean curd skin is folded repeatedly, resulting in a texture that is like a very smooth piece of tofu.
(From left) shrimp bread, Mukago, trout and shiso, and corn. Mukago is grated yam in the form of bud ball filled autumn goodness.
Corn tempura, which is very sweet and delicious, is one of their famous dishes.
Add green tea salt, salt, and tempura dressing of your liking…

…along with the shrimp, gingko and pumpkin.

Below is the green peas croquette, shitake (mushrooms) stuffed with shrimp and moroko tempura. The moroko is from Lake Biwa.

The Kyoto vegetable’s Kintoki carrot tempura and conger eel.

Refresh your taste buds with the Endo special salad.

The last course is a tempura bowl, a rice bowl, or mixed tempura.

Dessert is sherbet made from ruby with taste of apple, which is not too sweet.

It is definitely worth eating in Kyoto because you can enjoy eating tempura made from the freshest ingredients. The restaurants atmosphere has of the feeling of Gion.
